How we handle your data.
This policy covers what data we collect through the LiveSkillLabs waitlist and pilot product, why we collect it, where it’s stored, and the rights you have over it. We try to write it so a human can actually read it. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].
What we collect
The data we collect depends on how far you’ve gone with us:
If you joined the public waitlist
- Email address (required) and name (optional)
- UTM parameters and referring URL captured at signup
- Anonymous landing-page analytics (page views, clicks, viewport size) via PostHog
If you accepted a pilot invite and created an account
- Authentication credentials (email + hashed password, never the raw password)
- Profile information you provide during onboarding: target role, current title, location, experience, weekly hours, learning style, industry, employment status, ambition, time horizon
- Skills you add to your profile (current and target) and your self-rated confidence on each
- Lesson activity: lessons you start and complete, evidence URLs you submit (links to your own GitHub repos, docs, screenshots, or text), self-ratings, time-to-completion
- Computed scores derived from the above: your Live Skill Score, role-readiness percentage, learning streak, badges earned
- If you turn on the public Live Status sharing toggle, we generate a public share token; otherwise none of your data is publicly accessible
- If you send messages to the AI coach (currently disabled during pilot), we log the prompt, the model used, the response, and a context snapshot so the conversation can be referenced
Product analytics
We log a small set of named events server-side (e.g. signup, onboarding_complete, lesson_completed) so we can measure how the product is working. Same events go to PostHog client-side. None of these events contain raw email addresses or other contact PII; they’re keyed to a stable user ID.
What we don't collect
- Your résumé or LinkedIn profile (we don’t scrape or import them)
- Salary information, unless you volunteer it during a beta interview
- Anything from your browser outside our own pages
- Payment information (no paid product yet)
Why we collect it
- To send you the email confirmations, learning emails, and the daily Skills Intelligence Brief you opted into
- To compute your Live Skill Score against current job-market data and show you a personalized skill gap
- To recommend lessons that close that gap fastest
- To match you against current job postings (when you opt-in to the share/match features)
- To debug bugs and measure how the product is actually used so we can improve it
- To meet legal obligations (e.g. CAN-SPAM unsubscribe records, beta-agreement audit trail)
Who we share data with
We share data only with the vendors required to operate the product. We never sell your data.
- Supabase — primary database, authentication, file storage. Hosted on AWS in the United States. Privacy policy.
- Vercel — application hosting and CDN. Privacy policy.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (welcome, drips, daily brief, etc.). Privacy policy.
- Anthropic — Claude models that power the daily Skills Intelligence Brief, the AI coach, and our internal lesson-curation tools. We send anonymized lesson content and short prompt snippets, never your email or contact info. Privacy policy.
- PostHog — product analytics + feature flags. Privacy policy.
- Google Analytics — marketing-attribution analytics (page views, traffic sources, ad-campaign performance) on the public marketing pages. Anonymous; no raw email addresses or contact info. Privacy policy.
- Adzuna — public job-postings API used to derive market-skill trends. Adzuna receives only our generic search queries (e.g. "product manager, US"), never any of your personal data. Privacy policy.
- Google Workspace — for our internal email accounts (when you reply to one of our emails, the response goes here). DPA.
We do not transfer personal data outside this list of processors. We don’t use third-party advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or data brokers.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist data: until you ask us to delete it, or until we launch publicly and migrate you to a full account (whichever comes first).
- Pilot accounts: kept for the duration of the pilot. Inactive accounts (no activity for 12 months) are deleted automatically.
- Email send/open events: retained for 12 months for deliverability and CAN-SPAM compliance.
- Beta-agreement acceptance receipts: retained 7 years (legal audit-trail requirement).
- Aggregated analytics (e.g. funnel conversion rates) may be retained indefinitely in a form that no longer identifies you.
Your rights
You can ask us to do any of the following at any time:
- Access — request a copy of all personal data we have about you, in JSON form, within 30 days.
- Correct — fix any inaccurate data. Most fields you can edit yourself in your profile; for others, email us.
- Delete — permanently delete your account and all personal data tied to it. Beta-agreement acceptance receipts are kept per the retention rule above; everything else is removed.
- Export — receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Object — opt out of any specific email or processing. The daily Skills Intelligence Brief has a one-click unsubscribe link in every send. Other emails: reply "unsubscribe" or write to [email protected].
These rights are guaranteed under GDPR for users in the EU/UK and CCPA for users in California. We extend them to everyone regardless of location. Email [email protected] from the address tied to your account; we’ll respond within 30 days.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small set of first-party cookies for authentication and session management (set by Supabase). PostHog sets its own analytics cookies. We don’t use third-party advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
If you opt out of analytics in your browser, we still need the authentication cookies for you to stay signed in.
Children
LiveSkillLabs is for working professionals. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, email [email protected] and we’ll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we’ll update the "Last updated" date above and email everyone with an active account before the change takes effect. Trivial wording fixes won’t trigger a notification.
